Based on the GEMS  Implementation Plan, outlined in section 6.5.2, the major milestones of the GEMS project occur approximately annually as as follows.. Chapter 8 provides detailed  quarterly  milestones for each Work Package and Task in the first 18 months

Month 12

Complete the scientific and technical build and validation of 3 separate assimilation systems for Greenhouse gases, Reactive gases, Aerosol. Complete acquisition of available data. Complete  necessary functionality of web-site.

Month 24

Complete production and largely complete scientific scientific assessment of three different reanalyses for Greenhouse gases, Reactive gases, Aerosol. Make the validated reanalyses  accessible to  the outside world. Distribute  feedback to data providers

Month 30

Complete the technical merge of the 3 assimilation systems into a unified system. Complete the scientific upgrade of the models and algorithms based on experiences of trial reanalyses

Month 42

Complete production of the unified reanalyses for Greenhouse gases, Reactive gases, Aerosol. Complete the build of the operational system, with operational interfaces to partners

Month 48

Complete the  pre-operational trials. Complete the  documentation and the scientific papers.
